Cat ladies are back! Cat ladies are back!
Back in the day, I painted cat ladies. Red haired ladies with big hair. Big lips. Big honkin’ strands of pearls. Smug ginger kitties draped over bare shoulders. Bare whatever.
They were a hit with ladies who loved cats. Go figure.
I’m a dog person myself.
Eventually I grew tired of painting cat ladies and moved on to other subjects. Y’know…serious art. Which I love to do, by the way, don’t get me wrong. That’s most of the paintings you see on this website.
But cat ladies, bunnies, flying pigs & fish, strange looking people–the desire to make that kind of art (dare I say whimsical-not whimsical) never really left.
And with all the talk about cat ladies lately, well I couldn’t help myself.
Sometimes a girl just gotta indulge.
I’ll have some cat ladies both old and new at Open Studios this month. I no longer have a studio but was graciously invited to join seven other artists at Studio #6. Come by and say hi. And take home a cat lady while you’re at it!
You can download your Open Studios Tour Guide here.
Hope to see you soon!
